Sidney T. Bogardus, MD

Dr. Sidney Bogardus is the President and CEO of Connecticut Gastroenterology Consultants. He is board-certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He graduated from Yale University with his undergraduate degree, and from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City with his M.D. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine, as well as fellowships in Gastroenterology and Geriatrics, at the University of Chicago, and then served on the faculty at the University of Chicago. He returned to New Haven as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Yale School of Medicine. After serving on the faculty at Yale and rising to Associate Professor of Medicine, Dr. Bogardus entered private practice in Gastroenterology in New Haven while maintaining an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale. Dr. Bogardus currently serves as the President and CEO of Connecticut Gastroenterology Consultants, and is also the Chief of Gastroenterology at the Saint Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Bogardus also holds a number of additional prominent positions in the local medical community. He is on the Board of Directors of the New Haven Community Medical Group and on the Medical Executive Committee at the Saint Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is on the Board of Directors of Shoreline Endoscopy, a division of Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and a past member of the Credentials Committee, both at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Foote School in New Haven.
In addition to his clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Bogardus continues to teach medical students, residents and fellows, and has won the prestigious DeLuca Digestive Disease Fellowship Teaching Award, given by the Yale fellows to outstanding clinical faculty. He has also published numerous articles in the medical literature, including multiple papers in such noteworthy journals as The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and The Annals of Internal Medicine. He has been elected as Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Bogardus’s clinical interests lie in general gastroenterology, including colorectal cancer screening, acid reflux, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. He sees new patients and referrals, as well as second opinions, in both the New Haven and Guilford offices of the practice. He performs endoscopy and colonoscopy both in Guilford and New Haven.”
