Dr. Jared Macklin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor in Science and then went on to earn his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Southern California and fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Yale University School of Medicine where he served as Chief Fellow.
Throughout his training he has presented at national conferences and authored several original and review articles on topics including inflammatory bowel disease and gastroesophageal reflux disease. He continues to serve as a section editor for Digestive Diseases and Sciences.

Dr. Macklin has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease. He participates in a weekly conference with national leaders in IBD and is an active member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Other areas of expertise include Barrett’s esophagus for which he performs radiofrequency ablation, colon cancer, gastrointestinal bleeding, irritable bowel syndrome, and liver disease. He has a passion for teaching and is excited to mentor fellows, residents, and medical students.
In his personal life, Dr. Macklin loves to play and watch sports, including basketball, football, and tennis. He also enjoys traveling both domestically and internationally to experience new cultures with his wife, Lauren.
He sees patients in Hamden, New Haven, and Guilford.
