Colon cancer is extremely common in the United States, inflicting nearly 5% of the population. Fortunately, it is one of the few preventable cancers. Every individual should be screened for colon cancer. Most people can begin colon cancer screening at the age of 50, however those at higher risk due to certain medical conditions or family history should be screened at a younger age.
